World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using fewer Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
The player can have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a high possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade will destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.
In the endgame you'll find that the best way to enhance your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. item upgrades unlocks a special bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level requires a different amount of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrade a piece of equipment the original item will be replaced by the new item. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may increase in price even if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. This item can be upgraded several times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The upgrader for items allows players to raise the level of their equipment (armor, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its original condition which means that the player has to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. The player will need to take each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses listed above.
